Does the notion of excellence have a place in school? The question posed by this title undoubtedly has, in the eyes of many, a slight air of provocation. Obviously, they want to answer, that excellence has its place at school, and even a place of choice! It represents the goal constantly aimed at, and always receding, that students must seek to achieve, the one which must motivate them to work harder and in an ever more rigorous manner; it thus represents the supreme reward for work that deserves it. And yet, things are far from that simple.
